Time For Tea

There is something so comforting about a freshly brewed cup of tea. As a postpartum doula I guide new mothers to boost their oxytocin and in turn find more peace and joy.

Breastfeeding tea can work in a couple of ways, it can include galactagogues which is the technical name for herbs or foods that increase breastmilk supply. Examples of these are fenugreek and fennel. Breastfeeding tea can also boost strength and healing via herbs such as Calendula and Nettle.

Here are my all time favourite breastfeeding teas that the whole family can enjoy!

Number 1:

“Masty Blitz Tea” made by Blissful Herbs.

Not just for when you have mastitis but please enjoy this tea during your postpartum to build strength and your immune health. This certified organic tea is lovingly hand-crafted, hand-blended by Herbalist and Doula Julie in the Yarra Valley. The Echinacea, Rosemary and Thyme combination is an earthy, grounding pleasure to enjoy. My husband loves this tea. Buy Blissful Herbs tea via the website for great quick delivery.

Number 2:

“Motherhood Tea” by IBU Ayurveda.

My teacher Julia Jones from Newborn Mothers first introduced me to the method of using traditional Ayurvedic care to support new mothers during postpartum. Ayurveda, a natural system of medicine, originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. Ayurveda translates to knowledge of life.  The “Motherhood Tea” is formulated and designed by accredited naturopath, skincare formulator, yoga teacher, aromatherapist, and mother Justene in Queensland. It is a dreamy blend of fennel, shatavari (may assist with hormonal balance), chamomile, ginger and lemon balm and is not just great for breastfeeding but also supports recovery by aiding and boosting digestion.

Both of these teas are loose leaf so you want to invest in an easy to clean tea Infuser. Im absolutely obsessed with my Merriest T2 Infuser in Strawberry Rainbow. It's a pleasure to look at, easy to clean and fits in most cups perfectly.

Treat yourself to these teas and enjoy the benefits of a health breastmilk supply and calm mind.
